Picking the perfect location for your wedding day is a task that can be overwhelming. Particularly in a state home to so many beautiful native gardens, picturesque wineries, and gorgeous scenery. At a time when myriad decisions need to be made, let me take this one out of your hands.
Langhorne Creek, located a scenic 55 minute drive south east of Adelaide, is announcing itself as an exclusive wedding destination. Nestled near the banks of Lake Alexandrina, the Langhorne Creek Wine Region is a small but beautifully elegant community which boasts some of Australia’s best Cabernet Sauvignon. From May 19th, you will be able to experience five of the most charming and boutique wedding venues, each showcasing their unique style. The Langhorne Creek Wedding Trail, an initiative developed by Wedding Tourism and Cindy Westphalen, invites you to fall in love with the regions bucolic setting and perhaps find your perfect wedding location.
The trail, consisting of five unique venues, can be explored at your own pace. You can choose to visit just one, or take them all in. Those that decide the latter will then go in to the running for a fantastic prize draw which includes Langhorne Creek weekend getaways, regional produce and dining, wine, and the chance to have your wedding featured in Fleurieu Living Magazine.
The gateway to the trail is The Belvidere Winery, a small industrial winery a short drive outside of Strathalbyn. Guests can enjoy the stone Shearing Shed or feel the breeze of the Lake Doctor while standing out on the Cook House Lawns. This iconic Langhorne Creek winery is a characterful beginning to the trail and can be the backdrop for your special day.
We are then guided to the Belvidere Memorial Hall, an historic building full of charm, perfect for those looking for a small but quaint setting. But for those looking for something a bit more lush and contemporary, the Oasis Gardens and Function Centre is waiting just around the corner. Surround yourself in the award winning tropical gardens and wander through the elegant and modern function room while sampling some of the regions local produce.
The final stop, before the after party that is (more on that in a second), is The Winehouse, home of award winning wine and craft beers. The Winehouse is a self described quirky eclectic mix of old and new. A tranquil venue which has a rustic charm, it provides a relaxed sunset to the trail. At least before the after party kicks off!
To finish the day, bring your gourmet goods and picnic rugs and settle in for the afterparty on the lawns at Woodburn Homestead. Enjoy a performance by Triple J Unearthed feature artist Ollie English, while you and your partner, bridal party, friends or family discuss which venue perfectly suits your perfect day.
We know you will be spoilt for choice.
