Have you ever noticed everything in life is a complete waste of time? Steve Chang’s introspective journey is one thrilling ride involving hallucinations on ayahuasca, booking hookers online and a gay conversion camp. The stand-up comedy show located at A Club on Waymouth St allowed for an intimate experience, where Steve could start a conversation with the audience to authentically pave the way for some R rated storytelling.
Steve’s journey begins after hearing about the use of ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic drug with the ability to cure addition, trauma and produce spiritual revelations. So, in attempt to find meaning in his life, Steve spent $2,000 and hopped on a plane to Peru. The life changing message he received? He just went all the way to Peru to get high, and this was a complete waste of time.
Steve’s next attempt to try something new costs another $300 and involves a gay hooker, a hotel room and almost getting beaten up. While this attempt left him both shaken up and disappointed, one thing he was reminded of once again was his life was a complete and utter waste of time.
In a hilarious third revelation, Steve wonders, what the heck goes on at gay conversion camps? From the ripe age of 5 years-old, Steve remembers checking out other boys on the playground – so how do you convert someone so obviously gay? Spoiler alert: $650 later and Steve realises it was a complete waste of time.
Steve remains calm and collected while imitating these ridiculous peak moments, no short of racy detail and laced with an unapologetic attitude. While his life may be a complete waste of time, this ride of self-discovery will leave you gob-smacked at every turn and was definitely well worth every bit of our time!
