Baby, it’s cold outside, and after the great fun had last year the Howling Owl is back again with round two of SHIT KNITS this Friday night!
This winter warmer is a great excuse to rummage through your closet (or grandmas) to find that perfect ugly knitwear. I’m talking about sports knits, shrunk-in-the-wash knits, knits with tassels, pom-poms, sequins and cats. You know you’ve got them and the crew at Howling Owl wants to see them!
Expanding on the fun this year they will be partnering with the Hutt Street Centre for National Homeless Week to support those living on the Adelaide streets.
Homelessness is an important issue in Adelaide and the Hutt St Centre does so much behind the scenes to help those living rough such as supplying healthy meals, offering learning programs, providing ways to keep contact with loved ones, laundry facilities and an amazing team of management and case workers offering support along with continuous improvements to the running of the centre itself. To find out more about the Hutt St Centre, donating and fundraising opportunities click here.
To gain entry to this fabric wonderland (a shame free safe space for all that is horrid knits), a simple donation of pre-loved warm clothes in good condition or a new pair of sock or jocks will get you in the door free of charge. This is a great option for after work drinks or a warm night out with friends but make sure to get in early to take advantage of happy hour with $5 beer and gin along with special drink prizes to be won in categories including Nana Knit, WTF Knit, Best Festive Knit and the Crochet Wild Card. There are special cocktails for the night with part proceeds also going to Hutt St Centre, a Gin Wheel for a chance to win a free drink and of course DJ’s so bring your dancing shoes.
So, lock in this Friday night, the 10th of August, and get ready to show off your SHIT KNITS for a good cause and a fun night. You can find this rugged-up fun located at 10 Vaughan Place, Adelaide with all the event details on Facebook.
