Hidden away, above the Crazy Horse, lays a new joint for all those searching for something old. Mr Minsky and his illustrious crew invite you to take a lift and step into the mysteries of their world. You'll be greeted by a dame from a time not of our own, who’ll prepare you for the wonder you're about to step into.
This elusive location? Nineteen Ten, the newest addition to bars hidden on Hindley Street. This place slots in perfectly with the theatrical side of Adelaide, hosting a live jazz band every Thursday night and being home to a set of exquisite burlesque performers every Friday and Saturday.
The Blind Tiger, the quintet Thursday jazz performers, will soothe your soul with songs straight from the 1920s, and distract you from the pool that's in the middle of the joint. They won't distract you from the bathtub or the stage, where burlesque performers such as Desert Rose will enchant you. At Nineteen Ten you can learn to expect gorgeous clothing, racey moves, and maybe a bit of fire. Hosting around 50 people, the wonderful staff will make sure you're enjoying yourself as you sip on a delicious cocktail in a glass you wouldn't want to break. The bar itself is based on the secret locations of Prohibition, meaning it's channeling our booze loving ancestors and bringing them to modern times. Finding a lack of places that match the shows at the Festival Centre and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Nineteen Ten hopes to give people a space to keep living out the theatre our city hosts.
To all you old souls who want to escape to another time, to those who want to continue the night after seeing a show, and to those who’d like to dress in their fineries for a night of lavish luxuries… Get to know Mr Minsky, you'll find him in Nineteen Ten.
