As the Santos Tour Down Under hits our streets this January, the city is set to come alive with a series of street parties, after parties and galas. Coinciding with the second stage of the big race is Unley Gourmet Gala, a staple on Adelaide’s social calendar since its inception in 2000.
Ahead of the Tour winding its way from Unley to Stirling in Stage 2, King William Road will come alive to host the summer street party of all street parties. Cycling not your thang? Don’t fret. A thriving strip of top-notch eateries and retailers, Unley’s lifestyle hub is set to pull out all of the stops for a celebration of epic proportions.
From gourmet food offerings to fabulous fashion parades, enjoy the vivacious atmosphere of King William Road as the Gala welcomes tens of thousands of guests. Think cocktails shaken (and stirred) to perfection, lip-smacking local wines and mouth-watering gourmet eats, while you shop the precinct’s range of boutique fashion stores and enjoy live entertainment all evening long.
City of Unley mayor, Lachlan Clyne, says, “The Gala is always a much-anticipated event and a wonderful celebration of our vibrant cycling culture with a huge variety of South Australia’s finest food, wine, fashion, music and entertainment”.
Kick back with tunes and beats from a range of international performers from across the globe, including those from Lebanon, Syria, Greece and Ghana. Be inspired by cooking demos with Adelaide Masterchef, Heather Day, and fuel your celebration with eats from the street’s renowned eateries and pop-up food stalls. Inspire your summer wardrobe as Unley’s iconic designers as they take to the runway, including looks by Tiff Manuell, Paige Rowe, Denim and Cloth and more.
“In 2018 we’ll have more than 30 gourmet food and wine stalls on offer in addition to King William Road restaurants opening for longer and spilling out onto the street so that diners can enjoy the wonderful atmosphere [that] our annual Gala creates,” says Mr. Clyne.
It’s all kicking off on King William Road this January as the Unley Gourmet Gala returns in conjunction with Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under. For more information, head on over to The City of Unley’s website.
