What do you get when you combine ARIA award-winning artists, some of Australia’s best wines, delicious local produce, and even an opportunity for ‘glamping’ all in a beautiful location? Why, it’s the Handpicked Festival, of course!
This killer SA festival is back for 2017, and boasts its biggest line-up to date, with vocal powerhouse Matt Corby headlining this year’s festival. The ARIA award-winning twenty-six year old will absolutely enchant festival goers with the distinctive, soulful sound that he became known for after his debut album, Telluric.
Next up on the impressive line-up are fellow ARIA award-winners and Aussie rock legends Jet, performing in SA for the first time in six years. After skyrocketing to success with chart-topping hits such as “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”, the band’s recent revival means that there’s no better time to catch these guys performing live.
Think the line-up can’t get better? Think again. Joining Matt Corby and Jet are Aussie artists San Cisco and The Jezabels. After touring globally and headlining tours, San Cisco are heading to the Handpicked Festival this November, to wow crowds with old favourites such as “Awkward” as well as tunes off their new sophomore album, The Water. Rounding out this line-up announcement in the best way possible are beloved Sydney band The Jezabels, who will bring their signature indie-rock sound to this glorious festival.
“It’s the biggest line up the Handpicked Festival has ever seen,” says event organiser, Kate Cooper. “We’re excited for music lovers to converge on Langhorne Creek’s Lake Breeze Wines, just an hour out of Adelaide for an epic day.”
The festival truly celebrates Australian music, so much so that they’re hunting for a local act to play alongside this unbeatable line-up. “Every year I put a call out for local South Australian bands to send me their latest EP, so I get a list of about 200 every year and cut it down to five and put it to the polls on social media,” explains Kate.
Though this will surely be a day of unbelievable Aussie music, the festival truly is a complete sensory experience, with something for everyone to enjoy. Lake Breeze’s award-winning wines will of course be on offer, as will food trucks packed with local produce and a wide range of arts, crafts and home wares.
For those keen to party on into the night, the festival will have a ‘Tent City’, with space for up to 500 campers and even the opportunity for some glamping.
