We're super excited to exclusively premiere the debut EP from local psych rock outfit The Empty Threats!
What can we say, we're blown away. Each song is well crafted, dramatic and possesses a sound easily likened to The Murlocs, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, or perhaps even early Tame Impala. This being said, the boys have well and truly found their own sound, with Stuart Patterson's rich and often distorted vocals accompanying a landscape of guitars, synths and airy drums.
From the triumphant and forthright ‘Babies on Acid’ to the two part epic ‘Psychobabble’, The Empty Threats have unveiled a rich and brilliant EP that listeners can lose themselves in. Psychobabble’ displays astounding musical depth and skill, far beyond the years of this relatively new band. They ought to be extremely proud, all the brilliant energy and drama in their live performance is captured.
All five of us were coming at it from different angles, and when we put all our ideas together the result turned out to be this sort of incoherent cohesiveness. That's part of the reason for the name, Psychobabble.
With the resurgence of psychedelic music, The Empty Threats are hands down one to watch in Adelaide. If you haven't yet, catch these guys live at their EP launch; their live show is so bloody engaging and powerful.
On the 11th of August at the iconic Hotel Metro, The Empty Threats are launching ‘Psychobabble’. Sure to be a night of frivolity and raucous fun, the threats have assembled an armada of local talent in support. Fellow rockers Jungle City, Attila my Honey and Hepe & The Matehs are all exciting acts guaranteed to get you tapping your feet. Not one to miss folks!
