The Cabaret Fringe Festival is coming to Adelaide in June to celebrate its 10th anniversary program, and the line up is the best kind of ridiculous! So fear not, if you did not get your fill of cabaret at the Adelaide Fringe, because the Cabaret Fringe Festival is here to quell your appetite.
The festival will run from the 3rd of June to the 25th of June, proclaiming to host the 'biggest program to date'. The Opening Gala Night is set to be held on the 2nd of June at Freemasons Hall on North Terrace, and will showcase some of the best artists, and hottest acts of the festival.
We've had an exclusive look over the program for this year, and have narrowed down our 5 Must See Acts that you need to see for yourself!
After a string of sell out shows at last year's Adelaide Fringe, the Deco Dolls bring the 1920s decade of decadence, Gatsby-style scandal and glamour to the burlesque stage. It'll be a show stopper, no doubt!
When: 3rd & 10th June
Where: Nexus Arts (corner of North Terrace & Morphett Street)
Tickets: $23 - $30 and can be purchased here
Ma'am Slam: Women Telling True Tales
Support SA locals Nona Mona and Luna Godfrey as they take you on a humorous, liberatingly and honest journey with equally as enchanting special guests. The three nights of Ma'am Slam will each host and explore a particular theme relating to women. I expect these shows to be as relevant in today's society as they are funny!
When: 8th, 15th & 22nd June
Where: La Boheme (on Grote Street)
Tickets: $20 and can be purchased here
If you consider yourself a bit of a mermaid fan, then this show is for you! Rusalka is an acrobatic circus show exploring the legendary, and mythological origins of the mermaid. Sure to be darker than The Little Mermaid (well, Disney's rendition at least), Rusalka sounds like the perfect cabaret night out.
When: 9th, 10th & 17th June
Where: Atlantis Bar (on Waymouth Street)
Tickets: $22 - $25 and can be purchased here
An eclectic fusion of music, circus and physical theatre, Kinetic Noise present Unhindered. A talented group of youth who defy the conventional genres of performance theatre. Prepare to be impressed!
When: 3rd, 10th & 17th June
Where: SA Circus Centre (Fifth Street, Bowden)
Rating: All Ages
Tickets: $18 and can be purchased here
Dreams of the Orient
This Adelaide based dance troupe fuse Modern Egyptian Belly-dancing with Western dance style in a memorable and unique production. These performers celebrate the female figure, and reimagine what dance is to women. This show is also on the cheaper side, for those of you who may have blown your budget at the Adelaide Fringe, but still want to get out to see a show at the Cabaret Fringe Festival season.
When: 8th & 22nd June
Where: Vino Ristorante (Unley Road, Unley)
Rating: All Ages
Tickets: $10 - $15 and can be purchased here
