Supermild: The Watering Hole Your Squad Have Been Searching For

Alexia Frangos

To locals, Supermild Lounge Bar is a space that’s judgement free, where the drinks are always flowing, and the vibe has more chill than frozen margaritas. For those who know the name, it’s a regular spot to wet your whistle, and for some it’s an “I’ve heard of Supermild, but where is it?” With an easy to miss, hard to forget venue like this one, it has some exclusivity to it that many bars around Hindley Street lack.

Supermild has a corner for everyone; The booths in the front lounge, taken from the original Supermild location, create a space for sippin' their signature cocktails, while the basement d-floor is reminiscent of the old Supermild digs. The outdoor courtyard and rooftop bar add to the mems of their previous venue, and provide a space for new ones to be made. Supermild is a home base for party animals who wanna drink 'til 5am, a local lounge for mates that wanna sit around like a scene from How I Met Your Mother, or flashback to the old days - listening to 80's music while smoking on the rooftop bar. With liquor licensing 'til 5am every day, what's not to love?

Easy to miss, hard to forget.

Easy to miss, hard to forget.

Having just installed a commercial kitchen bringing fresh grub to the table, you can now have your sweet, sweet bevvie with an even sweeter meal. From veggie burgers to freshly made pork dumplings, Supermild has your most important meal of the day covered… the one before you get black-out drunk, that is. Sip on those espresso martinis, bubbly beers, or refreshing mojitos, while downing some nosh that’ll keep you dancing 'til the sun comes up.

"Supermild is like going to a house party. You feel like you're rocking up at someone's house and joining in, it's a safe place to hide off the craziness of Hindley Street and it's different from that doof doof music", says owner Samantha Lisy.

Supermild has been in the current venue for almost a year now, where "egos can be checked at the door". "There's no dress code, just a behaviour code", says Sam. "I can finally say I have a head chef and the business we'll run through the kitchen during the day will be serving baked comfort food that's healthy, including vegan burritos and hearty winter soups", just to name a few.

We enjoy colourful palettes.

Supermild will also be hosting alternate quiz, karaoke, and games nights so your mates can have a great night, while downing grog and chewing on their vegan and chicken wings every Wednesday night! As for the rest of the week; DJ's will be playing on Thursday and Friday, acoustic sessions will be going strong, and Sunday sessions are now on the agenda. "With food options we can now start bringing people in on Sundays, especially hospitality workers; it'll be a Sunday hot-spot".

Feel like getting your glitter on? Supermild also have a glitter face-painting session every few weeks, so keep your eyes on their Facebook page for details.
