Aussie legends The Smith Street Band have just launched a massive national tour for their new album More Scared of You Than You Are of Me.
The band made a big move with this album, leaving their much loved indie-label Poison City Records and launching their own label, Pool House Records. To celebrate, the boys are hitting the highways to embark on their biggest headlining tour to date.
Unless you live in Canberra or Darwin, Smithies are coming to your capital city. Gracing iconic music venues such as the Forum Theatre in Melbourne, the Tivoli in Brissy and the Thebby in Adelaide, the lads are as excited as we are.
“For this tour we’re playing the venues that we have always dreamed of playing, we chose big beautiful theatres because we want these to be big beautiful shows! We've also expanded our show in order to fully bring these songs to life, this tour is our most ambitious, exciting one yet!” frontman Wil Wagner said.
If all this isn’t enough for you, the tour will also feature a line-up of support acts from home and abroad. Californian pop-punks Joyce Manor, fellow American indie-pop babe Allison Weiss and Melbournian mates Ceres are all tagging along for the ride. This is going to be bloody huge, my dudes.
The album itself is also big n’ bold, and is ode to how far the quad has come after years of consistent touring and releasing great tunes. Full of the band’s signature underdog spirit, the album’s 12 tracks follow Wagner as he tells the story of a relationship. More Scared of You Than You Are of Me is dark, ferocious and heavy while simultaneously joyful and cheeky.
Tour tickets are on sale right now via the band’s website. Because the guys are absolute sweethearts, they’re offering everyone who buys a ticket a 10% off code when they pre-order the new album or anything else from the Pool House Records e-store. Just forward your ticket confirmation email to these guys and they’ll swing you a discount code.
More Scared of You Than You Are of Me is due to hit brick and mortar/internet shelves on April 7. Suss the album's latest single, Birthdays, below.
