Dark Thorn Pop Up Store @ Adelaide Central Plaza

Dark Thorn Pop Up Store @ Adelaide Central Plaza

Michaela McGrath

Black silk, high necklines and gold detailing were aplenty, as fashion designer Tori-Anne Gill welcomed us into her Dark Thorn pop-up store, on level 1 of the Adelaide Central Plaza. The Dark Thorn Store showcases the clothing line’s classic pieces, latest additions and exclusive items, only available for pre-order. We were treated to delectable cupcakes by The Bake Space and champagne, as we were swept away into the mystical magic of Dark Thorn.

Gill’s latest Rebirth pieces compliment her incredibly successful release of the New Moon collection in December of last year. Expanding upon the Victorian inspired, regal silhouettes, shades and fabrics of her existing pieces, Rebirth sees contemporary influences added to the mix. For example, the Florence Bodysuit with luxurious velvet and lace-up detail pairs beautifully with the sheer fabric and gold lace detailing of the Chastity Skirt to make for a collision of the Dark Thorn signature style, mixed with current day trends.

Some of our favourites from the new range include the velvet Victoria Dress complete with neck choker and lace detailing, as well as Abigail Blouse and its hidden front buttons.

The shop itself speaks to the majestic yet classic style of Gill’s vision for the Dark Thorn Brand. Not your typical pop-up, the Central Plaza store has wall detailing and displays that you would expect from a permeant residence. With crowns taking the place of mannequin heads and shelves adorned with candelabras, there is no mistaking Gill’s unique styling.

Victorian demure meets the 21st century at the Dark Thorn Showrooms in Adelaide Central Plaza. The store will be open until the 21st of March so be sure to get in quick!
