Mad March staple and all-around music spectacular, WOMADelaide, returns in 2018 with an expected killer set list of talent from around the globe in tow. The mammoth line up sees the world’s best musical, artistic and cultural acts descend on the CBD for a celebration hub of world music, arts and dance.
As Adelaide’s Botanic Park is transformed into a mecca of musical offerings, the freshly dropped line up is guaranteed to get Adelaide’s musically inclined grooving and swaying across the weekend, with the likes of The Avalanches, Eva Quartet and Tank and the Bangas set to take the stage.
Get your boogy on with Thundercat’s unique fusion of jazz, hip-hop, psychedelia and funk. Or get down with Baker Boy, dubbed the new fresh prince, and uncover just why this Aussie talent has garnered so much attention over the past couple of years.
Joining them are the likes of legendary Gogol Bordello, Dan Sultan, Rajab Suleiman & Kithara, and Scandinavian folk duo My Bubba to ensure a supreme diversity of sound continues across the weekend.
WOMADelaide Director, Ian Scobie AM, says, “It’s so exciting to be able to reveal the entire program, which crosses so many new boundaries, and countries as varied as Ghana, Sweden, Cape Verde, Turkey, Cameroon and PNG, as well as highlighting major projects in dance, circus and the visual arts”.
“The festival is a true celebration of the wealth of musical and creative invention from some of the world’s most original, brilliant and adventurous artists,” he continues.
But it doesn’t stop there, with musical acts making up only a fraction of the talent, WOMADelaide 2018 will see top-notch art and dance acts take to the grassland locale for a global cultural celebration of epic proportions. Be inspired by the world’s best as the likes of China’s TAO Dance Theater entrance audiences across the four-day festival.
Boogy and sway your way through Mad March as Adelaide’s iconic WOMADadelaide takes to Botanic Park this autumnal festival season.
