This Is Halloween, Everybody Make A Scene

It's true that Australian Halloween isn't as widely celebrated as American Halloween. We don't typically invest in any of the usual traditions, but if there's one thing that Australians do reliably well is dress up and party. It's a month until Halloween, so we've collated a list of Halloween events around Radelaide for you to get in on.

If you ask us, the only real problem is that you can't attend all of them. 

Cable Kidz Halloween @ Fat Controller

Tricks and treats all night long; including fairy-floss, popcorn, and face-painting.

When: Thursday, October 27, 10PM-5AM. 

Where: Cable Kidz, CNR of Bank St and North Tce


Day Of The Dead Party @ Super California:

When: Friday, October 28, 9PM-3AM

Where: Super California, 9 Hindley St. 


CarnEvil: UniSA Halloween Party:

"Step right up to the deadliest show on earth" - UniSA are bringing back their carnival-themed Halloween party. Hosted by The Evil Ringmaster, and his twisted sidekick, Stitches The Clown (Ben and Liam from Fresh 92.7), the party promises spine-chilling attractions in the sideshow alley, free carnival treats, face-painting, drinks in The Big Top, and the opportunity to murder the dance-floor. All students left unattended will be sold to the circus.

When: Friday, October 28, 7:30PM-12AM

Where: The University of South Australia, Brookman Building. 


Saturday Disney: A 90's Halloween Party @ Hacienda:

New party destination Hacienda has you covered for a Halloween weekend. Enter a world of 90's nostalgia, where Hacienda is honouring classic Disney. 

When: Saturday, October 29, 8PM-4AM. 

Where: Hacienda, Synagogue Place, Adelaide. 


Halloween Boat Party @ Taking Back Saturday

TBS are known for hosting 2000's pop-punk themed nights at The Rhino Room, but this Halloween, the party is heading to the open seas. The Port Princess Dolphin cruise-liner departs Port Adelaide at 7pm sharp, and the team have got enough Fall Out Boy to keep you partying through the night (or at least until they dock again at 11pm.) Due to limited capacity, tickets are selling out fast.

When: Saturday, October 29, 7PM-11PM.

Where: Port Adelaide, SA. 


Horror Movie Campout

This October, Australia's first horror movie festival is back with a vengeance. An overnight, interactive camping experience, guests are dared to survive a night of horror-filled entertainment. The night includes immersive scare actors, live performances, a "death chamber" scare maze, and, as the title suggests, a massive outdoor cinema screening intense short horror flicks. 

When: Saturday and Sunday, October 29-30, 2:30PM-10AM

Where: Wirrina Cove Holiday Park, Paradise Drive, Wirrina Cove (about an hour's drive from Adelaide.) 


Stranger Things: 80's Halloween Party @ Hacienda: 

With an homage to hit supernatural thriller Stranger Things, Hacienda invites you to "enter the mysterious darkness of the Upside Down." Combined with an 80's twist, Hacienda will be playing 80's tunes, and encouraging partygoers to dress up in 80's and 90's themed spooky dress-ups, including costumes from Nightmare on Elm Street, Aliens, The Exorcist, and The Shining. 

When: Saturday, October 29, 8PM-4AM.

Where: Hacienda, Synagogue Place, Adelaide.


Adelaide Goal Halloween Party

This year, the Adelaide Goal present its very own house of horrors. Not for the faint hearted, this night includes the scariest game of hide and seek around (and you know it'll be worse because it's in a prison). 

When: Saturday, October 29, 8PM-2AM.

Where: Adelaide Gaol, 18 Gaol Road, Adelaide.

Play For Harambe @ The Rhino Room:

The team of Problem Child like to playing tribute to the legends, both living and dead, both man, and animal. In celebration of our fallen hero, Harambe, and the meme that refuses to die, The Rhino Room are hosting a Harambe themed party. $2 from every ticket will be donated toward The Orangutan Project. 

When: Friday October 28, 9PM-3AM.

Where: The Rhino Room, 13 Frome St, Level One, Adelaide. 

Lisa Mitchell @ Cats:

Following the release of her latest single, "The Boys", musician Lisa Mitchell will be coming to Cats in support of her forthcoming national tour. Support Acts TBA.

When: Saturday, October 29th, 8PM-5PM. 

Where: Rocket Bar & Rooftop, 142 Hindley St, Adelaide. 


Halloween Comic Convention @ Flinders St. Market

Explore stalls run by local comic writers, illustrators, creators, toy-makers, themed food, and all things related to comics and pop culture. 

When: Saturday October 29 - Sunday October 30, 10AM-3PM. 

Where: 230 Flinders St., Adelaide. 


Dapper @ McLaren Vale:

A decidedly un-spooky collection of vintage traders, local artists, food vendors, and live music. 

When: Saturday, October 29th, 11AM-6PM

Where: That Dapper Market, 117 Main Road, McLaren Vale.
