We all love a fresh look and much-needed wardrobe update after the dreaded jumpers and coats we've been hiding under this past winter. Time to pull out your floral skirts, buttoned up shirts and slip into your espadrilles, spring is here (not weather wise but technically speaking).
However much we love wearing black here at RADL, we do love a good colour combo when we see one, and this year's collection for SS17 in Rundle Place had us chucking our over-worn leggings to the back of the cupboard. It isn't just about great colour schemes though, this spring is about patterns and themes; bring in the polka dots, stripes, ruffles and fringes. SS17 is all about textured fabrics, layering and channelling your inner 90's vibe.
Hosted by Sina Lauren Hol, the SS17 Rundle Place Runway showcased all the fabulous stores it has on offer, their best products, and how to rock any look this season. We saw collections by Ted Baker, Espirt, Kookaï, Oxford, Trenery, Portmans, Country Road, Peter Jackson and even Harris Scarfe, just to name a few! Surrounded by massive orange flowers, green grass and plants framing the furniture, it let us forget the shocking weather outside and had us keen for spring.
It was a dream come true for anyone that lives their life according to the Fashion Gods, and even an ordinary girl like me who secretly worships Sydney Fashion Blogger and Sofia Kapiris. While we enjoyed the garments and sipped on our Grenache Shiraz, dinner was served by another idol of mine, Poh Ling Yeow, and what an honour it was. Serving up delicious dishes like smoked salmon on crispy pear with schezuan pepper, beef rendang with turmeric rice and a lovely seasonal fruit pavolva. Nothing's better than a combination of food and fashion amiright?
As the evening came to a close we heard from one of the biggest names in fashion magazines in the country, Fashion Editor of Marie Claire, the fabulous Bree McDonald. She gave the audience a peak at her styling must-haves for the season, her take on what accessories are on trend, as well as offering tips and imparting her extensive style knowledge upon us mere mortals. It was a fantastic way to finish the event and can't wait to see the SS17 garments on the streets of Radelaide.
Thanks to Rundle Place, Grays PR, Sina Lauren Hol, Poh Ling Yeow, Bree McDonald, Finesse Models, Cimon Vozzo and all the staff, stylists and caterers for a wonderful evening, and the hard work it took to make the night a success.
