Spring Kicks Off With Unique September Events

Spring Kicks Off With Unique September Events

Emma Ferraro

The first month of spring introduces many popular events returning to Adelaide. We have Oz Asia and the new Good Fortune Markets, The Color Run, The Royal Adelaide Show, and The City To Bay Fun Run.

September is hailing some one-off events that won't get enough hype, so here's a guide to Adelaide September events that you may not have heard of:

Poh, Pizza, and Paella

Famed ex-Masterchef contestant and born Adelaidian, Poh Ling Yeoh is teaming up with the crew at Jamface to create a hearty, memorable and delicious event at the Barossa Gourmet Weekend. Over two days, Poh and her team will be serving Naples-style pan-fried pizza and Poh's paella at the Lindsey Wine Estate. Sunday will feature SA pop up record store "Crackle and Pop" hosting a music session.

Where: Lindsay Wine Estate, 15 Vine Vale Road, Tanunda,

When: September 3rd 9am - September 4th, 5pm.

Tickets available on Facebook.

Jamface Special Asian Flavours Event

Following on from their collaboration with Poh, Jamface will be hosting an exclusive "Crunch Club", featuring a menu created by Poh, which highlights South East Asian flavours, and fresh Central Market produce. More details coming soon.

Where: Jamface Central, Stall 28.29, Adelaide Central Market

When: September 29, 6pm-9pm.

So Fresh Party // Hits Of Spring 2003 @ Cable Kidz

To celebrate the beginning of spring, The Fat Controller x Cable Kidz are hosting a night dedicated to Australian hits from the spring of '03, including bangers such as Delta Goodrem's "Innocent Eyes", Beyonce's "Crazy In Love", and Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life". Free entry if you can produce the original So Fresh Hits Of Spring 2003 album, with $5 drink specials on the night, and prizes up for grabs if you dress in a "So Fresh" theme.

Where: CNR of Bank St and North Terrace, Adelaide

When: Thursday, September 15th, 10pm-5am

A Night Of Law and Order SPU @ Ancient World

"In the nightclub justice system, antisocial offenders are considered especially heinous. In Adelaide City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Party Unit. These are their stories. DUN DUN."

Adelaide's first Law and Order themed party, the SPU event will include black lights, crime scenes, forensics, a judge, perps and justice (not too sure if this a joke, but we hope not.) Dressing up is encouraged.

Where: 116a Hindley St, Ancient World

When: September 17th, 9pm-2am

Chocolate and Trucks

Celebrating the beginning of spring, this event features all of our favourite Adelaide food trucks, a selection of local craft beers, wines, ciders, entertainment, and enough chocolate for you to eat your weight in it.

Where: Bonython Park

When: September 18th, 12pm-4pm

Hosted by: Fork On The Road

Glow In The Dark Dodgeball

Dodgeball with a twist. This event is fundraising for the Adelaide Dodgeball team to attend the Dodgeball World Championships in Melbourne. With an abundance of UV paint, and some loud music, this is definitely a unique event.

Where: Point A, 20 Gunson St, Adelaide

When: September 23rd, 8pm-11pm

Ticket pricing: (Spectators) $5, (Participants) $20

True Grit: Night Attack

For all you fitness lovers, or anyone up for a bit of a challenge, Obstacle Racers Australia are hosting a night version of the True Grit workout. With 17 obstacles over 5 kilometres, lighting FX, smoke machines, lasers, and music, this isn't your typical gym session.
