We braved the winter chill to witness a creative display of local and emerging Adelaidian talent at the July edition of Fashion First at the Hotel Richmond. It featured the showcase of local designer Ashlee Graham’s Spring 2016 collection ‘Glass Horizons’, amongst a talented line up of home-grown Adelaidian talent. Sponsored by EFFEN Vodka, guests were treated to a delicious strawberry, lime and vodka punch upon arrival to take the chill off the biting evening.
The red carpet was unfurled and the slew of models strutted down the runway, starting with Ashlee Graham’s beautiful clean cut pieces, which combine sharp necklines and interesting shapes with soft fabrics. The opening piece was the literal Show Stopper Jumpsuit, featuring a plunging neckline balanced by its drapey lines. A notable element of the collection is its wearability, tendency to be loose in the right places and then draw it in with flattering waist ties in hues that suit a variety of skin colours.

The stellar piece of AlphaBe The Label’s collection was the Millionaire’s Dress, constructed from stark white fabric, broken up with a couple of tiers of translucent mesh and culminating at the throat in a choker style, shoulder cut out neckline; A staple shape for this season. Clarence Frank graciously provided the bags for the show, which were basic and practical. Beautiful jewels by the local label Of Dreamers and Dancers’ adorned the necks of the models, a key pick from their collection would have to be their Light Up The Night Statement Necklace.
An absolute standout from the night was Harvey The Label’s Nightingale Dress, a beautiful cap-sleeve dress made from a delicate black lace that looks luxurious. In fact, Harvey The Label’s collection featured a slew of utterly key pieces for the upcoming season. Harvey The Label will undeniably become one of the go to brands for Spring and Summer styling. You can see the Tempest Playsuit, a loose navy piece emblazoned with a white cross pattern splashed across it, anywhere from seaside scenery, to picnics in the Botanical Gardens, to a night out on the town.
