The Delta Riggs Get The Fat Man Jumping

Harrison Schultz

Cruising into the Fat Controller nightclub at 8:15pm on a Saturday night might seem a little early, but to say we were keen for The Delta Riggs was an understatement, plus they were supported by a few awesome acts.

Support Acts (In performing order)

The Byzantines

Larsen

The Pretty Littles

As we arrived, The Byzantines were setting up, whilst the guys from Larsen were standing on an empty dance floor. Everyone seemed keen for the night to get underway! Beginning their set, The Byzantines really started to get the night going; the longer they played the more people flooded in front of the stage. There may have even been a cheeky Snoop Dog tribute during the show. Next up, Larsen took the stage and performed as well as ever, despite sound issues and a broken drum chair, the crowd was enjoying every moment.

The 3rd and final support act, The Pretty Littles then made an attempt at turning the stage into their own and damn did they do just that! To sum their show up in a few words, well it's kinda hard to do but trust us, if you wanna have a laugh, enjoy a show and watch a band get a little crazy, then these guys are for you. After it was time for a breath of fresh air, a beer and a short wait for the headline act to do their thing.

The Delta Riggs thing? Putting on a fucking awesome show. Playing The Records Flawed early in the set ensured the crowd were loving it all, and even the 'fair weather' fans got up and about. We were then treated to their new single Surgery of Love and fair to say, it may have been a highlight of the show. Not too long after, that's when it happened... Elliot's hat went missing. The show stopped and whoever you are Adeladian, you cost us a damn encore.

Despite the loss of the hat, the boys all kicked on, if anything going harder than before. Even bringing a mic into the crowd, giving a few questionable but lyric knowledgeable voices a chance to belt their lungs out. As the show kept kicking, the crowd kept loving, the older favourite Supersong Casualites was shown plenty of singalong love and was definitely the highlight of our night.

Overall, it was a ripper of a show but we have two questions.

1. Who stole Elliot's hat?

2. When do we get to see The Delta Riggs play in Adelaide again? Because we dunno how long we can wait.
