Rocket Bar and Rooftop

Located smack bang in the middle of Adelaide's biggest and busiest nightclub district, Hindley St may be a turn off for some, but don't let that deceive you. Unlike most clubs, Rocket often have Australian and International artists performing. Within the past 12 months, acts such as Shlohmo, Roland Tings and George Maple have blessed Rocket with their beautiful sounds. If everything's getting too much for you to handle, instead of escaping outside and having to wait to get back in, you can simply go up to Rocket Rooftop. With a bar and a 100 person capacity, you might just never go back downstairs.

The BlueBee Room

Definitely one of the more intimate venues on the list, The BlueBee Room hosts many events, from cabaret's to heavy metal bands, with a limited capacity of only 100 people. The venue is in the city, though may be difficult to find. Taking over the first ever Fasta Pasta restaurant on Pirie St (oh the memories), the inconspicuous underground location makes it even more special. The acoustics are simply great, with laid back vibes it is very easy to forget that you're in the middle of the Adelaide CBD.

Fowler's Live

Since opening its doors in 2004, Fowler's Live has been a premier spot for the Adelaide live music scene. The iconic venue has had many uses, opening as a flour factory in 1906, reborn during the 1970's as the home of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, before becoming the venue it is today. When news burst that Fowler's would be closing down, everyone shed a tear. So make sure you keep supporting Fowler's up to 2017.

Colonel Light Hotel

Thursday's at The Light are definitely the top place to head to for great music in Adelaide. Yes. I refuse to back down. The Light are number one. Whoever manages to book consistent, amazing, local music should be rewarded. Every Thursday you will hear some of the most talented bands play both original and cover tracks. At the door you are asked what band you came to see and part of your entry fee goes to support that band. A win for local music!

Colonel Light Hotel
141 Currie St
Adelaide

Wednesday and Thursday 11am - 3am
Friday and Saturday 11am - 5am

Jive

The second Hindley St venue to make this list, Jive, is Adelaide's little indie heaven. Especially on a Saturday night when you're sick of hearing banger after banger at over-filled and over-sweaty night clubs. Along with the range of mostly independent artists that grace Jive with their beautiful sound, resident DJ Craig blasts your favourite Triple J tunes until the early hours of the morning, with the first Saturday of every month is even dedicated to the 60's! Though if you're waiting all night for DJ Craig to play some of Biebz new stuff, you may be slightly disappointed.
