If you're free this weekend and can pry yourself away from the Fringe for a day, you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the Adelaide Hills at the Uraidla and Summertown Country Show. Running from 10am to 9pm on Saturday 20 February at the Uraidla Oval, the event is set to show off the best of the area with local exhibits, market stalls, competitions, amazing food and wine from the region.
If you're big on making your own preserves, cakes, beer or almost any kind of produce, you can enter them into the show to be judged alongside dozens of other contestants. If you wish to enter an item into the show as an exhibit, you can register with this form, while regulations and entry conditions can be found here.
For all you beer lovers out there, local brewery Prancing Pony will be sponsoring the Home Brewers competition, with the grand prize being a behind the scenes tour of their brewery. Meanwhile, local winery Petaluma will be sponsoring the show, and you'll undoubtedly be able to find them around the place. Of course, the experience wouldn't be complete without a food and wine tent to keep you out of the sun, which will be present throughout the day.
The show will also incorporate the Uraidla Sustainability Fair, which will showcase sustainable lifestyle choices with experts in the industry giving presentations throughout the day. It's not all about that food, wine and music you know!
Local musicians and bands will be performing throughout the day as well, finished off by a grand fireworks display at the end of the night.
Tickets are a mere $5, so this is one definitely worth checking out this weekend.
