On Friday the 29th of January we were treated to a brilliant night at the iconic East End Producers Bar, showcasing local art, music and fashion. The night felt like a smorgasbord for all of the senses, with a brilliant setup from the venue, allowing for a seamlessly flowing gallery and main stage.
"RAW: natural born artists is an independent arts organisation, for artists, by artists. RAW’s mission is to provide independent artists of all creative genres, with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity" – RAW ADELAIDE
On the art front, the gallery spanned the length of the pub, which was filled with exhibitions and artists all keen to discuss and answer any questions about their works. Contemporary and traditional, it was all there with the standard of emotional artwork on par with that of bright and light hearted designs. Artists could easily be found next to their displays with a vast array of prints and items on sale to those interested. Some artists even ventured with competitions and questionnaires in a bid to further their exposure. We could have trawled up and down the gallery all night long.
Music-wise we were treated to some familiar faces, as well as some new ones. Homegrown Blues hero Ollie English smashed out yet another brilliant set in the cavernous back stage. We were also intrigued to see solo artist Todd Fogarty who produced a level of honesty we rarely see. House of Jade also presented a great set, storming through songs we had never heard before, yet we were intensely fixated. Vocals reminiscent of Jack White and a dramatic sound, we look forward to hearing these guys again soon.
"Artists express the true voice of a city and emerging artists speak from its very core. You can experience the glitzy lights to the grimy underbelly of this city we call home all through the eyes of RAW Artists at the FUTURES showcase." - RAW ADELAIDE
Finally on the fashion front, the RAW brilliance continued. Contemporary designs and stylish runway composure allowed a flawless presentation. The designs and models couldn’t be faulted in their professionalism. From a burlesque display to street wear, variety was the name of the game. To really understand the intricacy and gravitas of each outfit, you have to see some of the photos below!
