Walking into Tiff Manuell’s pop-up gallery feels like entering an abstract world where acrylic paint and creative juices boundlessly flow. “Come in! Just step around the painting on the floor, we’ll move it soon,” Tiff invites. Tiff is once again gracing us with paint and personality at this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival with her pop-up gallery in the centre of Victoria Square until October 23.
Literally dodging freshly painted wares drying on the ground and weaving between giant canvases suspended from the ceiling makes you feel like you’re a part of her creative and organised mess. Here, you can gain an insight into Tiff and her team’s creative processes by witnessing a blank canvas transform into an explosion of colours, patterns, and textures using acrylic paint. The team’s intense creative flair provides for fast and imaginative work to be crafted right before your eyes.
The spacious and light filled pop-up studio reveals an array of abstract canvas paintings, most of which have been fashioned into wearable art. Canvas-turned-clutches, tote bags, fringed collar necklaces, purses, and key rings are all available for purchase, each with their own distinctive design.
Uniquely-shaped clutches will make their debut appearance on Runway 5: Ready To Wear on Friday night and a handful of pre-release leggings are available for you to have a sneak peek at throughout the weekend. Piles of paint pots, blemished paint brushes, and blank canvases sit to one side of the studio, enticing you to throw on an apron and join in on the colourful adventures. Though the artwork is best kept for the professionals, there’s an opportunity for you to engage in the process by voting on some new clutch names.
It’s near impossible to keep your hands off these funky fresh designs (and even more impossible to pick a fave).
