The statement A Day of Rose is synonymous with two things; a totally intentional rhyme and our idea of utter bliss. Last Saturday turned out not to be just a day of pink tinged wines, but also a day of gourmet food, relaxing tunes and Adelaide’s best view. We can’t think of a better way to have welcomed Spring to Adelaide.
2KW Bar proved to be the perfect venue to host such a gorgeous day. The open plan interior allowed for the breeze to float through while the much welcomed warmth was soaked up by balcony-goers. We can’t imagine a better place to have spent Saturday sipping on glasses of rosé and chowing down on delectable eats, not to mention take in the breath-taking views of our city finally kissed by some sun.
Obviously all eyes were on the star of the show, the Rosés, and why wouldn’t they be? With eight wineries pouring some of their finest varieties of the good stuff, there was a drink to tickle everyone’s tastebuds. Each tasting was unique in its own right. We were treated to sweet, fruity wines as well as dryer blends, from shades of stunning bright pink to the more relaxed coral colours.
The generous spread of wineries on pour included Longview, Hewitson, Mitolo and The Lane. Alongside these, we were delighted to sample local varieties from the Hills’ own Bird In Hand and the Barossa’s Hentley Farm as well as indulging in French wines courtesy of Pierre-Henri Morel and Chateau Des Ferrages.
Together with the Rosé that flowed continuously throughout the event, food was a plenty with a delicious pintox and charcuterie bar. The deluxe spread was laden with tasty accompaniments from hazelnut cheesecakes, to sorfriti arancini balls and paella.
We were wrong to think the day couldn’t get any better, with the dulcet tones of the Escapades Duo, completing a combination of light foods, beautiful rosés and lovely music that embodied the beginning of Spring perfectly.
We had a delightful time soaking up the sun, wine and food on offer at 2KW Bar, and can safely say that there is truly nothing that screams Spring more than A Day of Rosé.
