In case you missed it, The Governor Hindmarsh (more fondly known as 'The Gov') has officially won the title of Best Live Music Venue in South Australia for the fourth year in a row.
The South Australian Branch of the Australian Hotels Association (AHA SA) held their annual awards just a few nights ago and The Gov totally cleaned up. Along with winning ‘Best Live Music Venue’ they were admitted into the AHA SA Hall of Fame (for the second time!) and so became the most awarded hotel in South Australia.
Just earlier this year we spoke with Ash Grunwald ahead of his gig at The Gov and he had nothing but lovely things to say :
“I love playing at The Gov because you get to be so surrounded by the audience and it’s like being surrounded by friends. There’s not many shows where you can do that.”
Whether you’re a regular or a one-timer, many South Australians can agree that The Gov has put on some truly unforgettable shows. Every show guarantees a friendly and comfortable setting for a diverse range of people to enjoy seeing their favourite artists. More often than not The Gov offers fans the opportunity to meet artists before and after their show – these are moments we will never forget.
Hotel owner, Melissa Tonkin has said, “everyone at The Gov is proud of this award, as recognition of our ongoing commitment to live music in South Australia. This pub lives and breathes live music, and we will continue to provide music lovers everywhere the best live experiences this State has to offer.”
It goes without saying that The Gov has some massive upcoming gigs. Download their free iPhone app and throw ‘em a like on Facebook to stay in tune with it all!
