Earlier this year a young Adelaide designer, Hue Le of Willow and Grace, came up with an ingenious idea; create a new and innovative platform to showcase the extensive fashion talent Adelaide is home to. Wednesday night, the second Fashion Concept took place... and boy does Adelaide have a lot to be proud of!
Taking place at the prestigious Queens Theatre, a handful of emerging and established Adelaide designers hit the runway to show off their latest must have creations. New comers to the Adelaide fashion scene included Paige Rowe, Revoque, Iliana the label and ultra cool mens clothing label, Average Cat. They certainly wowed audiences with their individual authentic styles, and innovative approaches.
Of course, the more established (and much loved) labels like Ashlee Graham, Closet Mod and street wear label Fools and Trolls also impressed.
Ashlee Graham showcased a fresh approach to monotone dressing, incorporating grey hues throughout prints. We also loved Ashlee's simple yet modern design approach, creating irresistible silhouettes for different feminine frames. Closet Mod was effortlessly cool and incredibly bright, but lets face it... we could all gain from a little colour in our wardrobes. Not to mention mod is so in at the moment!
Newbie Iliana The Label was another crowd favourite. Beautifully crafted and undoubtedly dazzling formal wear pieces lit up the runway. Our favourite thing about Iliana The Label is that it's different from other 'dressy'/'formal wear' labels currently on the market. The label has a sense of fun and adventure, and this is clearly evident through the sparkling sequins, daring dark lace and audacious hemlines.
Mentioning sequins, Adelaide's own couturierJamie Sortino stunned and I mean literally stunned audiences with an instalment showcasing a selection of his beautiful creations.
The audience was kept thoroughly entertained by the two wonderful and utterly charming/graceful hosts, Hayley Pearson and Lauren De Cesare of Adelady. Not to mention memorised by the beautiful models of local Azalea Models.
There's no doubt that Fashion Concept stepped up their game, creating a high quality fashion event for our local talent. Special thanks to sponsors Splash Adelaide, creative producer Lily Lou, founder Hu Le and everyone else involved for creating a new and exiting platform for Adelaide fashion.
We can't wait for the next one! For the full gallery, click here.
