Wine Time: Sea and Vines Festival 2015

Paige Kerin

Day drinking isn’t just for the Summer months boys and girls, it’s time to get your Winter Wine Time on with the 2015 Sea and Vines Festival. The 4 day event celebrates wine mecca McLaren Vale that we are lucky to have so close to home, as well as the amazing food and produce that comes out of the same region. What’s better is that it’s on the June long weekend, so you have even more of an excuse to enjoy yourself throughout the festival.

The ultimate wine tour is in it’s impressive 23rd year, and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways from dinners with winemakers and chefs, to daytime wine tours. The Sunday Experience is a wine tour where you put together your own itinerary of winery visits, featuring food from 11 different chefs and caterers. Experience the best wine, beer, food and music available in the Vale!

We are amazingly lucky to live so close to a region that serves some of the best wines in entire world; SA wines can be found in many corners of the globe. Participating wineries include Chapel Hill, GemTree, Woodstock, Maxwell Wines, Penny’s Hill, Serafino, D’Arenberg, Wirra Wirra and many more.

Haven’t gotten around Sea and Vines before? No worries! For most young people who go, it's the Sea & Vines Sunday Experience that's the go. Here’s our advice:

  • Get a bunch of mates together: make sure they all like drinking wine, and drinking wine during the day.
  • Hire a bus (we recommend good old Des’s for some great deals): we don’t want anyone attempting to drive to this thing. Even if you start out as deso, let’s face it, that’s not happening.
  • Plan out an itinerary: the Sea and Vines website provides all the info for the different wineries you can hit, and the different wines and beers on offer. A lot of the wineries offer free tasting experiences, so it’s worth doing your research.
  • Buy tix: some of the events are ticketed, but the benefits are definitely worth the bucks. Tastings, entertainment, and banging good vibes.

The day is divided into different sessions, and they're ticketed. Here's the go at the moment, but get on it fast - tickets are selling like crazy!
