It seems an untimely gaffe has caused a leak of this year’s Splendour in the Grass line-up, and unlikely previous trolling efforts, this is about as legit as they come.
Last Friday Geelong Advertiser reporter Paddy Naughtin stumbled upon a Spotify playlist, posted via SITG’s official account, titled “Splendour 2015 Line-up” containing tracks from some huge international and local acts.
Naughtin quickly screen-grabbed and tweeted the playlist before it was deleted shortly after. Reports have emerged of SITG deleting posts from their Facebook page and other social media accounts making this leak seem pretty damn genuine.
Names featured on the playlist were electronic funk wizard Mark Ronson, red-headed songstress Florence + The Machine, Blur, WA’s psychedelic pride and joy Tame Impala, emotional alt-rockers Death Cab for Cutie and our favourite Icelandions (Icelandons?) Of Monsters and Men.
Other names linked to the leak are Bon Iver, Royal Blood, Delta Riggs and Tame Impala associated act Pond.
To make things even more juicy, it seems we can certainly expect to see Danish alt-pop genius MØ on the bill, after her recent post on Facebook:
“OMG ‘Lean On’ is now #1 in Australia!!! Thanks guys, can’t wait to play for you in July,” she wrote.
But in any case we don’t have long to wait – the official announcement will be tomorrow morning on Breakfast with Matt and Alex featuring old mate golden voice, Shaun Micallef.
This year's SITG festival runs from Friday 24th July to Sunday 26th July at the North Byron Parklands site. Camping will be available from Wednesday 22nd July.
