Ladies and gents, it is time to get your ears around this. Local talent Sean Howard has just released his debut single Darlin', and my goodness, does it tickle our fancy.
About a month ago, Sean headed into the studio with Marie Incoll, a local Adelaide lyricist who has been doing some great things on the music scene both here and in Melbourne. After two hours of jamming in the studio, Sean had put the lyrics to song, and Darlin' was alive and kicking.
"At first, Marie used other songs to kind of structure her own. For this particular track, it was written with inspiration from a Ben Howard tune, which was the first reason I picked it as I am obsessed with Ben Howard", says Sean.
The process of writing a poem on a whiteboard and then turning it into a song was a great indication of how Sean can write music and melodies on his guitar.
"It is more along the lines of an experimentive collaboration, I picked up the guitar, ran with open C tuning and really got stuck in. Within a couple of hours the song was finished and I was really happy with it", said Sean.
With raw acoustics, husky voice and a ridiculous falsetto backing up the track, it is one catchy little tune with a definite Ben Howard vibe.
Sean will be performing his first headliner show on Sunday March 22, with support from local Adelaideans Alice Haddy and Ryan Cornish. As a first taste for the weekend show, we cannot wait to see what else Sean has up his sleeve.
Tickets for the concert are available through Moshtix.
