A Cutla Gigs For Your November

A Cutla Gigs For Your November

Jason Katsaras

The weather is heating up, and summer time is so close you can almost taste it, but exams or work commitments stand in your way. Either way, let these upcoming gigs wet your appetite for what is sure to be a brilliant few months of music ahead.

You am I @ the Gov - Friday 6th November

Australian Rock royalty You Am I will be gracing the Gov's stage on Friday. With a long standing vast array of brilliant songs, the gig is sure to strike a chord with any Aussie music fan, with many Australian artists drawing inspiration from the group to this day. Testament to this is Courtney Barnett's recent cover of their song 'Heavy Heart' which you can catch here.

Ash Grunwald @ The Gov - Saturday 7th November

A giant of the Australian Roots music scene, Ash Grunwald's most recent Adelaide gig had punters enthralled with his array of blues tunes. From the energetic highs to the solemn and beautiful lows, heading along to this gig will have your Saturday night sorted. A previous host of Triple J's Roots 'n all, Ash knows his roots music and definitely knows how to put on a show!

Naughty By Nature @ The Gov - Sunday 8th November

The ‘90s are often described as the Golden Era of hip hop with the decade introducing an array of acts, many of whom have stood the test of time and influenced generations of artists to follow. One such act is the Grammy Award winning hip hop trio, Naughty By Nature, born from the streets of East Orange, New Jersey, or better yet, the streets of ‘’Ill-Town’’. For any old school hip hop fan, catching these guys on their 25th Anniversary 'Aussie by Nature' tour should be a no-brainer.

Future Islands @ The Gov - Friday the 13th of November

Those who ventured out to Port Adelaide early this year for St Jerome's Laneway Festival at Harts Mill may fondly remember seeing this Synth Pop trio perform. Should you head to this gig, our favourite track and their most popular 'Seasons (Waiting on You)', is likely to get stuck in your head for a long time, but trust us you wont mind at all.

Scumfest 2015 @ Old Queens Theatre - Saturday 14th of November

This is one event not to miss. The Mini-festival of sorts is headlined by the one and only Cosmic Phsycos, a group perhaps most known for their brutally fun song, 'Nice day to go to the pub'. The raucous band recently toured with Dune Rats and had punters going 'bat shit' crazy'. Following the psychos, a huge line-up includes the brutal riffage of Melbourne’s High Tension and the defiantly heavy nature of I Exist. The line-up consists of 18 bands, local and interstate, playing on 2 stages throughout a full day of heavy riffs and party carnage, joined by Adelaide punk kings Grenadiers and party time assailants She’s The Band and much more. Get around this one for a crazy good time.

Kisschasy Farewell Tour @ The Gov (2nd Show) - Sunday 15th of November

Remember that brilliant song 'Opinions won't keep you warm at night'? Well this is your last chance to catch that and a number of other songs by the victorian band, Kisschasy. This gig was added after overwhelming demand following a sold out show  on the 14th at the Gov. After over a decade of delivering adept, memorable Australian pop rock, this is Kisschasy’s very last lap of the map. You’ll be kicking yourself if you miss it.

The Bennies @ The Unibar - Thursday November 19th

These Melbourne punk rockers will undoubtedly put on a hell of a show. Their most popular track 'Heavy Disco' is both relentless in its pace and relentless in the lyrics of the boys on a monumental night out. Signed with the brilliant Poison City Records record label, (as is The Smith Street Band, and recently signed, Adelaide's own Horror my Friend) these guys will bring their unique party-punk rock music to the Unibar later this month, and don't expect a quiet one.

BAKEHOUSE TURNS 2 (ft. Druid Fluids, Larsen, Tomorrow Rising + North East Avenue) @ The Jade - Friday 20th of November

Adelaide's own Bakehouse is turning two, and to celebrate they're having a mad gig at the Jade. After assembling a stellar local lineup I'd say the Bakehouse will certainly give punters a fix of local musical brilliance and energy. Expect many shoeys and an all round great night.
