66 The Label- Adelaide's fashion golden girls

Mirna Taslidza

They are Adelaide's freshest fashion duo; with a wealth of fashion knowledge and experience between them, Kellie Gage and Rochelle Flynn are the masterminds behind popular hats label, 66 The Label.

Launching earlier this year and with two successful collection- 'Muse' and 'Isle of Capri'- already under their belts, theres no doubt their soon to be launched A/W 15 collection is already in high anticipation. And why wouldn't they be..? Made from 100% Australia wool and high quality straw, with an on-trend and über cool aesthetic, these hats are every fashion darlings ultimate accessory!

This is Radelaide caught up with the dynamic duo to talk all about their inspirations, ambitions, exciting future projects and their individual styles. Now prepare for obsession... not only do these ladies design the most immaculate hats but are also huge inspirations, proving you don't have to jump the border in order to forge a successful fashion career.

Tell us a bit about what 66 The Label is and the inspiration behind the label?

We both are very creative and wanted to build a business that represents current fashion and trends but is a staple premium piece that is remembered.

Tell us a bit about the founders of 66 The Label?

We both have a drive for making your own mark and creating something you find special. Creating products especially in fashion has been a vision for a long time. We have built our branding our way, focusing on our strengths in business, graphic design & photography. Adding the design element allows us to control our business with our own identity and mark.

Where did 66 come from when naming your label?

We decided we wanted to find a creative place we could develop our brand. We then renovated our studio at Norwood and turned it into a space that inspires us to design and build a business.

We have very different styles & personalities that really encourages great collaborations and focus on all details to the brand. As we are located on The Parade number 66 we thought it was only natural!

You both come from creative and fashion backgrounds, why did you choose to design and establish a hat label?

We have focused on products that we have passion and vision for. We also needed to create a business that represents us but successful in the marketplace. 66 The Label we have found our customers are very diverse. Our short brimmed hats are all uni-sex and we have concentrated on designing an array of styles to suite everyone.

What is the main objective behind 66 the label?

That our brand reflects the premium quality of our products and delivers premium pieces for our customers to enjoy.

Why did you choose to launch your own label?

We both are very creative and it felt very natural to build a brand that we can represent as our own.

How did you find launching your own fashion label at a young age?

I don't feel like age matters but experience is so important. Between us we have have a long background in business management and design for our age and this defiantly does help in a growing brand.

Describe your personal styles?

We both love staple pieces. A great piece of leather or denim and mixing new with old you will see around our office most days.

Favourite places to shop?

I love New York for shopping! But sometimes nothing beats home, walking down the Parade we don't usually walk past the Birdcage without stopping in.

As creatives, where do you find inspiration from?

We both love travelling, I think that is such a huge part of our inspiration.

Do you think Adelaide has the potential to be known as a fashion city?

Definitely! There are so many talented people here, We have a lot of friends that have moved interstate to pursue fashion. We have had a big focus on trying to represent Adelaide especially on a international platform.

Where do you see yourselves and your label in 5-10 years time?

Hopefully still designing and growing our brand but also still loving what we do.

Do you have any exciting projects planned for 2015?

2015 is a very exciting year for us. Our 3rd collection is on its way and we have just starting stocking in New York. We look forward to adding new styles to our collections for our customers with a few surprises along the way.
