Need something to do over the long weekend? Look no further! The inaugural ASIAFEST Food & Cultural Festival will fill all your entertainment needs. Spread over three-days, this culinary delight will bring together the very best of traditional Asian food, culture, and entertainment.
Held right in the heart of Adelaide at the beautiful Rymill Park, several mini festivals are spread throughout the one large festival, sectoring off each of the different Asian countries on display.
In China you can witness various traditional folk dances including the Lion Dance, Fan Dance, Tibetan Dance, Umbrella Dance, and Water Sleeve Dance, as well as witness the Miss Chinese Australia Parade, and a wonderful display of Tai Chi. Thailand will bring a calm and relaxing atmosphere with all-day massages on offer, as well as fruit cutting classes. In Korea you can witness a traditional Taekwondo Championship, as well as an ever-pleasing puppet dance. And last but definitely not least, Japan brings all sorts of entertainment to the festival including sword ceremonies, Taiko drumming, Keno, Karate, Guitar Samurai, and the biggest event of all: SUMO MANIA, a sumo-wrestling tournament held in the custom-built Isuzu Arena featuring professional wrestlers as well as celebrity appearances.
If the entertainment is not enough then the food is sure to satisfy. Over 20 of Adelaide's finest Asian eateries will be bringing their kitchens to the park for a three-day feast for the senses, where each 'country' has their very own traditional food to try.
When your fix for entertainment is satisfied and your bellies are full, head over to Miss Lee's Laundry & Bar situated in the Melting Pot, and experience the back alley ways of Hong Kong, along with DJ sets from local artists. This unique bar is the creative-child of the Royal Croquet Club and Little Miss Mexico, and will keep you entertained throughout the night.
Visitors will experience a real cultural journey, and will find themselves completely immersed amongst each different and beautiful culture. This festival is an absolute winner, and has something for everybody. Do not miss out!
