Last week saw the 2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) kick off in style; announcing the Face of the Festival to an invitation-only event held at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute.
The night began with an exhibition of models dressed in indigenous art-work clothing, before the face was announced later in the evening. Katarina Keeler, a beautiful 20-year-old lady from Ceduna was announced as the face for 2014, and has been selected to represent this year's festival.
Katarina was discovered last year during the 2013 Finesse Models and IMG International Model search at Westfield Marion, by Finesse Models Australian Director, Brigette Mitchell. Cristina Tridente, Adelaide Fashion Festival Coordinator said, "As the new fresh-face on the Adelaide modelling scene, Katarina was a standout for us, and what better way for her to launch her career in the industry then using the AFF as her big break".
Shortly after Katarina was announced to be the face of AFF, we had a chat to her proud mother, Jennifer Wicham, who couldn't keep the smile off her face. Whilst tears of pride were rolling down her cheeks, she told us that Katarina was a keen model but her priorities lied with her nursing degree, which she is currently completing this year at Flinders University.
Katarina says, "Being chosen as the Face of the 2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival is very exciting, and it's an honour to represent my indigenous heritage in such a renowned and prestigious event".
Presented by the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters and The Parade, Norwood, the Adelaide Fashion Festival is nationally recognised as South Australia's premier fashion event; showcasing the State's dynamic and innovative fashion industry.
This year, the AFF will run over a ten-day program, from 17 - 26 October. Tickets are on sale now at www.adelaidefashionfestival.com.au. Keep up to date with all of the Adelaide Fashion Festival updates right here!
