Renew Adelaide and Regent Arcade Project launch

Renew Adelaide and Regent Arcade Project launch

Alana Trezise

Orchestrated through Renew Adelaide, Regent Arcade has been given a fancy new facelift with the help of seven new stores! We were lucky enough to head along to the launch, and get some insight into the wonderfully talented Adelaide creatives behind them.

A few days prior to the Regent Arcade x Renew Adelaide project launch, we stumbled across a delightful little store called Have you met Charlie? As we are ones to obsess over quirky and utterly cute handmade delights, we couldn't help but notice this little gem before it had even opened its doors. Consequently, we made sure this was our first stop at the launch evening - and we were super impressed! The store is filled with quirky finds, funny gift cards made by local Adelaide artists, and an abundance of second-hand yet lovely attire. We grabbed ourselves a glass of red to start our evening (before we bought the entire shop), and headed on to the next new store.

Sarah Rothe Jewellery, situated right next door to Have you met Charlie? is a shop filled with beautiful contemporary exhibition jewellery made almost entirely by Rothe herself. This talented lady has designed a brooch for Hilary Clinton and has a neck piece displayed in the Powerhouse Sydney Museum, now that's some serious #GIRLBOSS stuff right there. If you're wanting to add some delicate (yet ultra-street-smart-air-of-sophistication) jewellery to your collection, head down there and snap it up before the Australian version of Hilary Clinton waltzes in and buys it all (yes, that would be you, Julia).

Walking down the arcade, we came across the third store on our list, appropriately named Potted Thoughts. As you have probably guessed, Potted Thoughts sells every type of aesthetically pleasing plant that can fit into a pot. They have little hanging pot plants, big standing pot plants, and all those other type of pot plants in between. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram for an opening date!

Next we stumbled upon one of our favourite additions to the arcade, Boo & Who (we say stumbled, after a few too many cheeky red wines). Store owner and Adelaide creative Bec Lane, has combined her beautiful Zuki & Boo candle range with her inner florist to create one seriously good smelling shop, catering for those wanting gifts, cards, candles, flowers or just a little something for yourself. Head down and suss out all of the delicious-ness but beware... once you smell one - you must smell them all!

Leaving Boo & Who with aroma filled nostrils, we ventured across the arcade into Average Cat. Average Cat provides pop-culture inspired street wear for Adelaide's coolest dudes, with original jeans, jumpers and snap backs to suit errr' boy's clothing needs. It is their first retail store, but with their dark and mysterious vibe providing an effortlessly cool atmosphere, you would think they've had a hand at this before.

Next on our arcade-launch-crawl we headed into Created Range, the second men's store on the new strip. We have our suspicions that some cool Adelaide dudes were walking through the mall and decided there weren't enough stores catering for them... but goodness we're glad they did! The man behind Created Range, David Court, has acquired work from a range of Adelaide based artists, making every piece in the store super original and totally rad.

Last but not least, Closet Mod is a beautiful new ladies clothing store inspired wholly by 60's and 70's style. Designer Jordan Bishop told us that she designs, modifies and sews all of the clothing herself - an amazing effort producing some seriously amazing apparel!

Thanks Renew Adelaide and Regent Arcade for an awesome night!
