Mirna Taslidza

Adelaidians, are you on the hunt for the perfect gift this Christmas? Are you in dyer need to immerse yourself in some art and culture, or just want something different to do this Thursday night? In that case do yourself a favour and head along to this years Custom: The Mill Residents Exhibition and Opening Night Markets.

In its second year in operation, this exhibition and market will showcase the works of the talented local resident artists of The Mill and spoil visitors with an abundance of art and goodies to be purchased. The Night Market will include limited edition prints and one-off paintings and photographs by resident artists such as Che Chorley, Will Nolan and Alex Bishop, fashion pieces  by this years AFF Emerging Designer finalist Millicent Elizabeth, furniture and unique and special gift ideas for Christmas.

And if shopping isn't your thing  the exhibition and market will also feature live entertainment, a bar boasting Fox Creek Wines, a selection of delectable nibbles, and even some in-house DJ's.

This year the event is bigger and better than ever with The Analogue Laboratory putting together one of their famous photo-booths and doing TinTypes that quests can take home with them.

With Christmas literally just around the corner and the idea of foraging through Rundle Mall at Christmas time gives you anxiety filled nightmares, then this market is the perfect option. Immerse yourself in the creations of Adelaidian artists, enjoy the festive atmosphere and most importantly shop local and gift handmade.

“We think its important for consumers to think more about giving locally made presents, to gift something hand-made and special this Christmas. Now more than ever its important to support local, small businesses..." says The Mill cofounder Amber Cronin.

The idea of supporting local Adelaide businesses and creatives is what makes this event stand out from the rest, especially during the hustle and bustle of the Christmas period. All too often we as consumers stray away from SA made products due to price, accessibility and trends- however a brigade of South Australian businesses including The Mill, Scott and Scarce and local food producers  are proving they have all the boxes ticked for your dollar bill this Christmas.

The Mill is a creative hub for Adelaide's local artists from all disciplines; offering its creative residents spaces to create, connect and collaborate. It acts as a support network and working environment for Adelaide's flourishing arts and culture scene.

Custom: The Mill Resident Exhibition and Opening Night Market will take place at the Mill at 154 Angas St Adelaide on December 4th from 6pm. The Mill's gallery will be set up for the market for this one night only, so don't miss out!
