The Store in North Adelaide is a South Australian stalwart, perhaps best known for alfresco breakfasts on the picturesque Melbourne Street strip of North Adelaide.
The ongoing popularity of The Store in a tumultuous industry of fads is no coincidence. Since new owners took over the venue two years ago, they have not wasted time resting on their laurels.
Due to recent developments, patrons can now enjoy the Melbourne and Jerningham Street vistas from the lofty height of the lattice balcony. The new upstairs function area is perfect for parties and soirees where patrons can step out and enjoy the breeze.
The room caters for 30-60 sit down and 40-100 cocktail style.
Since The Store originally opened in 1998, the upstairs rooms and balcony have been strictly “staff only” areas, consisting of 5 offices. Owners Mark Girolamo and Sam Dunning together carried out their vision in removing the 4 walls across the front of the building to open it up into 1 big room. Original Baltic pine floorboards were repaired and polished, bar area constructed and bathroom facilities completely gutted and redone.
“Already known for breakfasts, we have expanded the business into dinners and now functions. We have just started a new summer menu with a focus on SA produce - the main feature being the all South Australian Grill with steaks from the Southeast, lamb from the Fleurieu Peninsula and pork from the Eden Valley,” says Mark.
“We pride ourselves on using only good quality, local South Australian produce.”
Mark and Sam have experience in winning formulas both having a background working in successful pubs and hotels in Adelaide. Mark has worked at the Alma, Cumberland Arms and The Maid, while Sam’s portfolio includes The Maid, The Stag and the Hilton.
