The winner of this years Adelaide Fashion Festival's Emerging Designer Award, Simmone Standing, has released her debut collection; revealing it at a lavish event held at the Hotel Richmond last week.
Simmone Standing previously worked under the label, Naked Underneath, until only eight months ago, when she decided to relaunch under her own name, Simmone Standing the Label. And aren't we lucky she did so. Within eight months, Standing has already proven she is a force not reckoned with, already appearing on the radars of some of Australia's most established fashion designers.
Standing's debut collection is best described as simplistic genius. The collection is entirely white, a refreshing change to the explosion of colour that bursts into our wardrobes during the Spring/Summer months. Or in other people's cases... introduces a new shade into their 'all black everything black' wardrobes. The clean and simple colour palette along with the adventurous silhouettes, represents the epitome of modern and innovative style.
Standing also plays with different lengths and textures, from crop tops to midi skirts, contrasting linens, silks and embroidery, creating unique individual pieces united by white.
A hybrid of effortless resort wear and high-end fashion offering something for everyone; with her ability to create pieces so simple for everyday wear, and others in to be cutting edge and pioneering all in the same collection, Standing stands out from the rest.
Speaking of standouts, the standout pieces from this collection include a smooth finish cape jacket with perfectly cropped sleeves, and a tailored pant with a lavish overlay and tail. Both encompassing that simplistic yet adventurous charm, Standing will no doubt become renowned for!
