Thrift Shop Bar

Paige Kerin

Adelaide’s nightlife renaissance continues with the newest laneway venue Thrift Shop Bar, hidden just off Waymouth Street. Enjoy a ‘cellar door experience’ in the vintage-vibing bar that serves 100% Australian made craft spirits and cocktails.

The vintage atmosphere will soothe your mind and soul as you enjoy a craft spirit or even their homemade cola. Everything in the venue has a vintage finishing touch, right down to the vintage glassware from which you’ll coolly sip your hand-crafted cocktails. Thrift Shop Bar is decked out in re-used, recycled and up-cycled op-shop finds to reflect their old-fashioned theme and attitude towards sustainability. The vintage sights are complemented by the vintage sounds played on a 70s radiogram.

By now it’s a world-known fact that South Australia has some of the best wine on the planet. Even though it’s in our own backyard, we don’t always get a chance to hit McLaren Vale or the Barossa every other weekend. Thrift Shop Bar will bring the cellar door experience to the city by specially hosting a different producer or brewer every 2 months, with events and tastings to showcase their products.

The venue is headed by Scot-turned-Adelaidean Jaime Fraser after being part of the top team at Assembly in Sydney. The talented staff of bartenders is led by Michael Barendregt, who has refined his skills and his palette travelling the World. You can be sure every drink you order will be of the up-most quality and made with care, as all cocktails should be.

While the main event will be the craft beverages, you’ll also be able to order quality snacks to go with them. Less is more with their bar menu, which is loaded with local produce as well as a toastie selection!

There is already an impressive line-up of small bars adorning our city’s streets and laneways, but the comfortable, contemporary and classic Thrift Shop Bar is a one of a kind venue guaranteed to keep you coming back.

Thrift Shop bar is open Wednesday to Saturday, 4.30pm to late. Check out their Facebook for more info.
