Norwood Place Parades

Norwood Place Parades

When it comes to fashion Adelaide isn't usually the first  city that comes into mind, however after  the past nine days of the Adelaide Fashion Festival this perception is surely about to change!

Last Sunday saw one of the last events of this years Adelaide Fashion Festival, The Norwood Place Parades. Located on Adelaide's premiere shopping precinct, the highly anticipated event featured a giant outdoor catwalk with Adelaide's own Finesse Models showcasing the latest spring and summer trends from both popular high street and local retailers and the creations from this years Emerging and Established designers.

The day began with hazy grey skies and slight drizzles of rain before the sun came up and dried up all the rain...just in time for the first scheduled parade. This was followed by two other fashion parades later on in the afternoon.

Special guests enjoyed a delicious high-tea featuring a selection of savoury and sweet canapé`s from Argo on The Parade and a selection of delectable beverages from Wicks Estate Wines, Infused Rush mixers, Three Oaks Cider, Coopers Beer and of course it wouldn't be a high-tea without a selection of tea...right?

The stand out trends from the runway this year was certainly prints and vibrant colours, structured silhouettes with hems longer than in previous seasons. Think Christian Dior's New Look era with a modern Adelaide twist. In contrast with the first trend- neutral and stark white tones are also making a huge comeback, with designers like Simone Standing the Label pioneering the trend.

Along with the fashion parades, the event also featured the much loved Norwood Fashion Markets  with over 60 stalls of fashion, accessories and crafts, live entertainment and for the first time the event also included a SA Designers Hub with stalls from local designers such as casper&pearl, GeorgiaGuy and Namoi showcasing and selling their latest ranges. Not to mention the selection of freebies for event goers, it might be me but there seems to be a lot of free Krispy Kremes involved in this year AFF, but hey I'm not complaining!

Overall a great event for those wanting a fun day out full of fashion, fine foods and shopping.
