After a super successful first season of The Porch Sessions in 2013, this year they're back - hosting seven sessions, once a month, from October through til April 2015.

The Porch Sessions are a travelling series across Adelaide suburbia where willing porch lovers and owners offer up their yards for the Porch crew come in and completely transform their garden into a musical oasis. Everything is brought to their porch, from the bands and the bar, to the wine, the food, the homemade lemonade and even some cupcakes! Bunting is strung, fairy lights are abundant and Persian rugs and crochet blankets turn the lawn into seating for the 120 or-so guests.

Recently, we had a chat with local Adelaidean Sharni Honor, who came up with the idea of The Porch Sessions after sitting on her own porch, strumming some tunes with pals over tea, before her neighbours got up from their porch and came to watch the musical shenanigans which were unfolding. She told us that The Porch Sessions are all about exposing everything our amazing state has to offer, from our local food and wine, beer and cider, to the musical acts, and of course the wonderful people that live here.

Season one went off with a bang, with all four shows selling out during the presale ticket stages, making even more reason for Sharni's commitment to seven shows this season. One of the performers from last season, Kaurna Cronin, says “Sharni's Porch Sessions have allowed both local and interstate artists to foster in Adelaide. They provide an incredible platform for emerging artists to greater their exposure in a desirable intimate music market and allow for the forging of interstate and national relationships with touring artists who are regularly involved with such events".

Sophie Orchard, another of last year's talents captures The Porch Sessions vibe perfectly saying, “the main thing I noticed about the Porch Sessions that made it different to other live music events, is that it had a very warm, personal feel. Being in the back yard of someone’s home, with local support acts, local food businesses and local people made the whole experience feel very natural and gave a sense of bringing people together.”

The Porch Sessions season will kick off Sunday, October 12th, with acts Al Parkinson (VIC), Tim Moore (SA) and Juno (SA), starting at 5pm. Tickets are already sold out, so make sure you get in quick for the next one.

We will be there, soakin' up the tunes and culinary delights, so if you haven't already got your ticket - be sure to get your music fix and Porch Sessions coverage over the 2014/15 season with us!
