It was a sad day in September 2015 when local Frewville icon, the Fisherman’s Basket turned off their fryers for good after 16 years of quality, good ol’ fish and chips. The ‘Basket’, which had greeted Glen Osmond Road commuters for over four decades, has since been transformed into Nordburger’s third Adelaide location. Faded blue sea creatures were replaced with splashes of olive green and subway tiles, and the ‘Basket Special’ with beef and bacon. While local residents could hardly complain, the passing of the much loved seafood restaurant left a hole in their hearts. With a mouth full of cheeseburger and tater tots, they did however grimly ponder, “where will we go now for gorgeously golden, beautifully battered succulent seafood?”
It’s a question that has plagued the local community for months… until now. Not ones to give up and desert their loyal customers, the Fisherman’s Basket team have answered our prayers and re-opened as a takeaway-only joint in neighbouring Glenside.
Introducing: Fisherman’s Basket, 2.0
Same people, same quality and service, new location.
What’s also new is the menu. In the spirit of giving the people what they want, Fisherman’s Basket now serve up rotisserie chickens and hamburgers, along with their classic, perfectly battered, crumbed or grilled fish and seafood, crunchy chips, and fresh salads.
To the ‘Basket’ crew; we’re happy to have you back, you’ve been missed.
