If it’s true that you “eat with your eyes”, then you will not be left aesthetically famished this summer at St Louis House of Fine Ice Cream & Dessert.
The French inspired dessert bar has launched the new summer menu for 2018/19 and it is a tour de force of dessert making. Sourcing their ingredients from local suppliers, this new menu is a testament to owners George and Mesha Karamalis’ mission of using premium ingredients to create classic, and delicious, desserts.
There’s not too many things better than the smell of warm banana bread filling the room, and Louis’ Banana Bread is no exception. This simple, classic dessert has a wonderful warm and homely feeling to it. A thick slice of banana bread, toasted and served with peanut butter and dark chocolate. Let’s add to that a scoop of french vanilla ice cream, a sprinkle of hazelnut, shortbread crumb and some fresh slices of banana. This dessert is perfect for all the banana bread enthusiasts of the world (i.e everyone).
From warm and homely to cool and refreshing, St Louis’ Peaches and Cream Waffle is an instant summer classic. A belgian waffle topped with locally sourced fresh peaches, mascarpone cream and pistachios, this dessert is as beautifully tasting as it looks.
Life is punctuated by hallmark events such as birthdays, achievements and relationships. There is, however, one event that should be remembered above all others as the pinnacle, the moment you tried Archie’s Cookie Sandwich. I’m not one to be hyperbolic, but this dessert is life changing. St Louis’ Pistachio Ice Cream is wedged between two Choc-Brownie Butterbing Cookies and it simply oozes out onto your hands as you tuck into this triumph of desserts. Finished with some fresh strawberries, persian fairy floss and raspberry coulis, this dessert should not be missed.
Vegans, don’t think you have to miss out this summer, St Louis has you covered with their Vegan Raw Berry Sweet. This vegan berry slice is served with raspberry coulis, fresh strawberries, juicy mandarin, lemon curd and a vegan crumb. It’s a blissful berry sensation that packs a sweet punch.
Any dessert bar worth its salt has an obnoxiously large milkshake with all sorts of add-ons, and St Louis is no exception this summer. Bing’s Cookie Sandwich Shake is a delightfully sweet wild strawberry shake that is topped with two Choc-Brownie Butterbing Cookies (remember those life changing cookies that were mentioned just before) with Wild Strawberry ice cream wedged in between them. This shake is perfect for sharing and even better to gorge on all by yourself (who has time for sharing anyway?).
You will certainly be spoiled for choice this summer at St. Louis, but let’s be honest you can’t go wrong with whatever you decide. This summer menu is as elegant as it is delicious (and it is really really yummy). Owners Mesha and George have always prided themselves on bringing the most out of high quality ingredients by creating polished, sleek and classic desserts, and this summer menu is no exception. With the addition of the new Christmas Pudding Icecream, St Louis should be at the top of your list for the festive season. Their new summer menu is not to be missed so get into any of their five locations at Glenelg, Modbury, Gouger St, O’Connell St, and Norwood.
