Renew Adelaide Introduces La Popular Taqueria to Port Adelaide

Renew Adelaide has been working magic throughout the city and its surround suburbs all year, and its newest venture is no exception. 

La Popular Taqueria launched last night on St Vincent Street in Port Adelaide to an enormous crowd with warm welcomes. The taqueria, Spanish for taco stand, is an excellent addition to the Port Adelaide community, and is sure to see foodies and appreciators of Mexican cuisine flock to the area. With plans to see Adelaide tram routes extend to Port Adelaide in the near future, there are serious expectations that the seaside suburb will become a bustling cultural and nightlife hub in the next few years. The opening of La Popular Taqueria is a sure indication of this, and of what is to come in Port Adelaide. 


La Popular Taqueria started out as a monthly neighbourhood dinner party before soon realising the potential for a successful restaurant. The authentic Mexican street-food menu sings of Central America, with everything being hand made from the guacamole to the taco tortilla. All produce is sourced locally and sustainably, as is the decor and amenities. 

The restaurant is quaint and has a very homely feel, which extends to the food itself. Homemade tacos like you’ve never had them before, there is something on La Popular Taqueria’s menu to suit everyone. Vegan, vegetarian and meat options all equally look and smell delicious. To accompany your taco you can even buy a side dish to suit your dietary preference, from pickled jalapeño chillies and veggies, to sweet corn with mayonnaise and chillie, to pork crackling. Yes, you read that right, you can even buy house made pork crackling. It’s an absolute must try!


And what Mexican joint would be complete with out tequila and margaritas on offer? Sustainable tacos, and authentic margaritas - consider me sold! 


La Popular Taqueria officially opens to the public on Friday the 6th of October, so be sure to get in line for some taco-riffic food.
