Do you have a dog who goes ballistic every time you try to leave the house without them? Do you feel slightly guilty subjecting your pooch to kibble when you know they deserve better? Do you just bloody love dogs and want to be around them more? If you’ve answered yes to any (or all) of these, you’ll be stoked to know that The Curious Squire now caters for the canines. The North Adelaide institution has added two new menus to their all-American arsenal; one for humans and one for pets.
Venue Manager Clint Barker (who has the most appropriate surname for this story) came up with the idea for the Curious Paws menu (ya killing me!) after noticing the lack of pet-friendly options near the North Adelaide Dog Park, which he frequents with his partner and English Staffie, Byron. However, not only is the venue now pet-friendly, but they’re even making doggo delights for your fur baby.
“We decided to go one step above just accommodating dogs at The Curious Squire, by establishing the venue as a destination where guests can relax and order a meal, not just for themselves, but for their canine companions too,” Barker said. “There’s no question we’re a dog-loving nation, in fact Australia has one of the highest rates of pet ownership in the world, with around 20 dogs per 100 people, so we’re expecting to have lots of these doggy delicacies rolling out of the kitchen.”
The Curious Paws menu boasts a number of treats that’ll make your doggo drool, including the Homemade Woof Burger - a beef, lentil and veg patty served with lettuce, cucumber and duck tenders between steamed potato slices.
Two legged guests will also have a ruff (I’m so sorry) time choosing from ten new lip-smacking burger options. The Behemoth, the menu’s aptly named headliner, will have you bursting at the seams with a double beef patty, double cheese, southern fried chicken, mac ‘n cheese patty, pork belly, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, aioli and topped with onion rings. Vegetarians are also catered for with the Happy Cow burger, featuring a quinoa, sweet potato and lentil patty, baby spinach, salad, guacamole, chilli jam and mayonnaise.
Furthering their puppy love, The Curious Squire hosted their first Paws at the Pub event last month to raise much needed funds for the RSPCA. The event was a smash, and will be back on Sunday, September 17th for those who missed out (or who are keen for round two). The event features live music, free treats on arrival for your pet, and admission is 100% free.
“The Curious Squire is proud to have raised over $1,200 to help animals in need, and hope our future Paws at the Pubs events will be even more successful,” Barker said.
