North Adelaide’s iconic breakfast spot, The Store, treated us to a boozy brunch complete with champagne, Espresso Martinis and their specialty 'Bloody Mary' last Friday, as their famed all-day breakfast menu returned.
The Store has long been recognised for their tasty breakfasts and light lunches since the café’s inception in 1997. Over those past ten years, the coffee joint has racked up iconic breakfast status among foodies from far and wide. Now famed as one of Adelaide’s staple eateries, it's no wonder the team behind The Store have put countless hours into curating and restoring the perfect brunch experience.
After taking over the legendary café in 2012, co-owner Sam Dunning has spent the last five years tirelessly observing, experimenting and understanding what his customers respond to and enjoy. He found an overwhelming demand for excellent breakfast and light lunch options. The result? A brunch menu for all, that you can get all day! Whether you’re an early-bird or a late riser, you can now enjoy a selection of wholesome and delicious options at any time of day.
“Brunch has become such an important part of Adelaide’s culinary culture – you only have to look at the countless cafes across the city and suburbs that are constantly bustling with people every weekend,” Sam said.
The Store’s new all-day brunch menu sees fan favourites remain, while innovative culinary delights join the ranks. From a classic eggs benny and their famed club sandwich, through to a quinoa fruit salad or wagyu beef burger, The Store have got you covered for any and all of your cravings.
Unchanged since 1997 when the original recipe was born, The Store’s Original Bircher Muesli was first up on our sampling palettes. Complete with creamy vanilla bean yoghurt, poached fruit and berry compote, the muesli is the perfect autumnal breakfast item. The sweet poached fruit and indulgent vanilla bean is balanced by the slight sour element of the berry compote, to make for a delectable breakfast treat. Rain, hail or shine this classic remains and really hits the spot.
Next up was our favourite, the Beetroot and Ricotta. A thick piece of sour dough toast stacked with a beetroot and ricotta blend, wilted spinach, poached eggs and finished with dukkah - it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. The layers of sweet beetroot, bitter spinach, soft poached egg and crunchy dukkah compliment each other for the ultimate satisfying brunch.
Finally, with the little room we had left in our stomachs, we took on the Salt and Pepper Squid Salad. Steering away from the traditional breakfast menu items, the salad is the perfect Asian-inspired light lunch option. Choc full of bok choy, red onion, snow peas, coriander, red capsicum, mung beans and an Asian style dressing, the salad is perfect for those popping in for a quick bite to eat.
