Pizza In the 'Burbs: Chicco Palms

Pizza In the 'Burbs: Chicco Palms

Laura Brain

You can expect more than just pizza, pasta and palms at Chicco Palms Hot Pizza Shop on Henley Beach Rd, Brooklyn Park.

This newly opened establishment is a dinner experience in itself, featuring a 50’s American-diner style décor, decked out with colourful furniture, funky wall art and mirrors - you’ve literally stepped into Palm Springs, California. Chicco Palms is the destination for drinks with friends, family dinners or birthdays, or even date night.

Chicco Palms is an Italio/Americano infusion, serving classics such as pizza, pasta, antipasto, panini’s, beef carpaccio, and eye fillet steak – just to name a few delectable items on the menu. They also offer various tasty-looking banquet options, yes that’s right a pizza banquet – what more could you want in life. The service is impeccable at Chicco Palms, even on a busy night the waitresses’ made sure we were cool, comfortable and satisfied, and our meals were delivered promptly despite how packed the restaurant was. We tried the Quattro Stagioni Pizza - a tomato based pizza topped with mushrooms, ham, olives and artichoke, and the Salamino – also tomato based with salami, olives, cheese and red capsicum.  Both pizzas were delicious and took us straight to Rome – a generous size, simply perfect base, and fresh toppings. Check out the rest of the mouth-watering pizzas on offer that are all available for dine in or take away:

Margherita – the old classic revitalised at Chicco Palms with tomato, fior di latte (mozzarella cheese) and basil.

Marinara – tomato, garlic and oregano (no seafood).

Prosciutto – with tomato and fior di latte.

Quattro Formaggi – this translates to four cheeses and features provolone, asiago, fior di latte and parmigiano.

Eggplant – with tomato, parmigiano and fior di latte.

Porchetta Nduja – with tomato, fior di latte, ndjua, olives, and chilli.

Funghi – swiss, porcini, champignons and taleggio mushrooms.

Pancetta Anchovy – with artichoke and pizza bianca.

Garlic Bianca – herbs, garlic and oil.

The abundance of beverages available at Chicco Palms are just as bright and refreshing as the décor. We tried the Aperol Spritz for a refreshing, citrus burst on a hot summer’s night and were delightfully satisfied. The Italian classic, the Bellini, a mixture of Prosecco sparkling wine and peach puree was also a hit. Some of the other vibrant cocktails on offer include Espresso Martinis, Zebracano - a stirred infusion of suze, gin, and Cocchi Americano, Giuseppina Coloda – A Pina Colada with a twist blending Malibu, house rum, coconut sorbet, pinapple and coconut cream, and the summery Palm Freeze – house rum, mango, lime, and white wine blended together. Chicco Palms also offer a large selection of Italian and Australian wines, beer, and soft drinks.

Chicco Palms keep the summer vibes and good times rolling with its unique '50s American diner/Italian infusion - it's an experience you need to get a piece of.
