Just a stone’s throw away from Grange Beach, 82 Thai Eatery is wowing locals with its modern approach to Thai cuisine. Opening in early 2014, it didn’t take long for this place to gain a loyal fan base. 82 Thai doesn’t need a fancy Instagram account to attract customers, instead you're more likely to hear about it through word of mouth. After numerous enthusiastic recommendations from friends and colleagues, I thought I’d better see what all the fuss is about.
You won’t find any traditional Thai decor at this restaurant, in fact upon a first glance it looks like a trendy coffee shop. Perhaps this is why people are so pleasantly surprised when they experience the intensely flavoursome food this place has to offer.
Sea Stars is a great entree option, dumplings of minced chicken, prawn and squid soaked in the most delicious mild curry broth. Believe me when I say you will scrape every last ounce of that creamy sauce from the bowl. Other starters include grilled scallop, chicken wings and Sai Oua- traditional grilled Thai pork sausage paired with seasonal house pickles.
From their main meal selections, you can’t go past the Massuman Beef- beef, potato and peanuts in a mouth-watering coconut milk curry. The combination of intense flavours is indescribable, and something you’d have to experience yourself to truly understand.
Are you excited yet? You should be. Not to be dramatic or anything, but it’s honestly a disservice to your taste buds to skip out on this place. And for all you homebodies out there, rejoice when I say that they do offer takeaway. Make sure to give this place a visit if you’re seeking some sensational Thai food in Adelaide’s West, you won’t be disappointed.
