Summer in Adelaide means fiery days and balmy nights, where you want to sip on a cold bevvie and have an awesome meal with your mates down at the pub. Pub culture is a reflection of the small world we call RADL and the pubs to be your true laid-back self in can be hard to find – but we did a little digging through the north, south, east, west and city streets to bring you the ultimate pub experience that offers value for money and quality SA produce. Tourist or local, you’ll find these pubs have everything you need in terms of splendid service, fabulous food, and awesome atmosphere.
Named the AHA Best Outdoor Area in all of Oz in 2015, The Gully Public House and Garden offers just that; an amazing outdoor beer garden along with three distinctive dining areas that stagger around the massive block it occupies. This pub had a major transformation just over a year ago with renovations that’ll give you some interior inspiration for your own place; it’s covered top to toe in woods and warm colours, plants and almost Balinese vibes, The Gully has summer wrapped into its veins. Offering plentiful in the area of craft beer and fine SA wines, they also offer a spectacularly diverse, delicious menu that promotes local produce and seasonal eats. Any patron would be cheery with a fantastic meal and a pint of craft beer on a pleasant afternoon.
Now to one of Adelaide’s most well-known pubs: The Highway Hotel. The Highway tends to offer different menus throughout the year but still keeps traditional, popular items on the menu with twist to keep customers happy and quality high. Serving up an extensive cocktail, beer and wine menu at the bistro, lounge bar and deck bar, this place has just about anything no matter what your thirst-quencher preference. Same goes with its menu, whatever you fancy they’ve got it covered. A cool space to chill inside or outside for an easy meal that won’t cost a fortune, and tastes better than something you’d do in your own kitchen.
