Thai Orchid is a long standing favourite for Adelaide locals and tourists alike. With a prime location providing ocean views in the heart of Henley Square, The Thai Orchid never disappoints.
The recent revamp of the area has provided local eateries with more business than ever, and this place is bustling no matter the time of year. Thankfully the restaurant is very spacious, featuring both indoor seating and access to a sun room with spectacular views of the Henley foreshore. The larger venue size not only makes in an especially great choice for group dinners, but also helps avoid that awkward occurrence of scooting your chair into the stranger sitting behind you (which is always nice).
Menu options include all of the classics, satay chicken, green curry, lemongrass beef... there's always plenty to choose from. The menu is split into designated sections: salad, soup, chicken, beef, pork, duck, lamb, seafood and noodles, allowing you to quickly scan for your desired dish.
If you’re anything like me you’ll flip straight to the carbs and select one of their delicious noodle dishes. The Phud Thai is always a winner, rice noodles with local prawns, minced chicken, egg, garlic, spring onion mixed in a sweet chilli sauce, topped with crushed peanuts. A variety of vegetarian meals are also available, with some vegan options available on request. Groups of four or more people also have the option of selecting from their banquet menu.
The popularity of this restaurant is no mistake, rather a result of great food, spectacular service and an unbeatable location. Make sure you drop in to this old favourite next time you’re at the square, and discover why people keep coming back time and time again.
