With the days of dreary grey skies and crazy storms (hopefully) behind us, it seems to us like it’s finally time for a bit of warmth in our lives. What better way to welcome in the increased daylight hours, beautiful blue skies and summer sun to Adelaide than with the introduction of a delicious new summer menu from Funk Coffee and Food!
Funk, with twelve stores across Adelaide, have become a crowd favourite thanks to their fresh South Australian produce, excellent service and passion for creating quality food and coffee every time. Boasting their own signature blend of coffee, it only makes sense that the company has the food to match. The team at Funk are dedicated to a focus on fresh, new menus for each season, and boy has the summer of 2016 shaped up to be a good one.
From Monday October 10th, Funk have moved on from their winter classics, such as soups, house-made fritters and baked potatoes, which have seen regulars flooding the popular lunch time stores over the chilly months. Instead, these items have been replaced by fresh salads, smoothies and other additions that embrace local seasonal produce as well as cater to current trends.
We’re beyond excited for the healthy but oh-so tasty new menus, which see five new salads and the introduction of three smoothies to keep us cool during Adelaide’s notoriously scorching summer months. The seasonal menu sees options from fresh Mediterranean Salad, complete with stand out flavours off mint, feta, olives and sundried tomato, to the more traditional Caesar all on offer and awaiting your undoubtedly excited tastebuds. Bulking? The cafes offer a range of proteins such as felafel, chicken tenderloins and smoked salmon available to add to any of the salad options.
Find yourself needing breakfast and your morning coffee while you’re on the go? Or just want a filling smoothie that’ll keep you feeling fresh with each sip? Look no further than Funk’s brand new range of smoothies. The cafe's have added three nourishing drinks to their menu this summer, each original and nutritious in their own right. So here's the run down:
The Breakfast-GO: For those chronic breakfast skippers out there, this one is for you. Complete with oats, banana, honey AND a grande shot of espresso, this smoothie packs a punch. Pick one up next time you’re on the go.
The Red Chia: Looking for something a little sweeter? A combination of watermelon, strawberries, apple juice makes for the super refreshing beverage that is The Red Chia. Also boasting the inclusion of super food chia seeds, this smoothie is a winner in our books.
The Totally Green: This sure-fire hit is championed by the ultimate in summery fruits, the pineapple. Accompanied by super healthy greens such as spinach and mint, this green smoothie is chock full of flavour and goodness.
