Adelaide’s very own James Squire restaurant and bar, The Curious Squire, are tracing back to their authentic Southern American roots to expand their famously delicious menu.
Originally from Alabama, Head Chef and ‘Pitmaster’ Drew Akin brings his love and passion for traditional American recipes to the table, using Blackened Cajan techniques from New Orleans, Char Grilled flavours from the South, and dessert combinations originating from camping in the great American outdoors.
“The updated menu features more authenticity and originality, with the addition of traditional Southern American dishes such as Meatloaf, Chicken and Waffles and of course the Mac and Cheese Sundae,” says Drew.
After attending a menu tasting on Wednesday evening, we absolutely agree that The Curious Squire's new menu brings out some delicious flavours and interesting combinations. Some of the other exciting new dishes we got to try include Sweet Potato Fries, Pulled Pork Quesadillas, Char Grilled Corn on the Cob, Chicken and Waffles, Blackened Cajan Kingfish and the outrageously delicious S'more.
Restaurant Owner Antony Tropeano tells us, “Expanding the diversity of Southern American dishes available on the menu felt like a natural progression for The Curious Squire. Meals featuring Bar-B-Q meats have proven to be a massive hit amongst regulars and new customers… We want to ensure that we provide patrons with dishes that they will continue to love and enjoy".
We've got to say that our favourite dish of the evening was the humble S'more, a traditional American dessert which includes melted marshmallows, Nutella and wheat biscuits. A simple dessert, oozing with flavour (and Nutella). Seriously, what more could you ask for.
Located in North Adelaide on O’Connell Street, The Curious Squire is Adelaide’s premiere BBQ restaurant, now offering an even larger selection of top quality authentic Southern American food.
