REVIEW: The Gallery on Waymouth

Situated on Waymouth St, The Gallery is a wonderful three-level space which houses some of Adelaide's best art work and one of our greatest rooftop bars. All in one visit, you can get your arty-cultural fix, have a few chilled beverages and soak up the sun (and alcohol) with some of their tasty food!

Whilst the art is amazing, the rooftop bar is where it is at. There is a retractable roof that protects patrons from those rainy nights, while summer time turns The Gallery into the sunniest of spots. As The Gallery sits in the centre of the CBD's west side, the rooftop bar has a vibe that is metropolitan and chic, with a leafy wall garden on the Eastern wall bringing nature into the city landscape.

On our recent visit, we tried a few of their shared plates and cocktails, however choosing what to order from their delectable looking menu proved to be quite a feat. After much collaboration, we decided to go with the tempura zucchini flowers, shallots, fetta sauce and tomato caper dressing; Rocket and swiss cheese arancini with capsicum sauce and the roast baby carrots, chestnuts and gorgonzola cheese plates, washed down with an amaretto sour cocktail.

Each of the plates were just as good as the next, however the roasted carrots with nuts and gorgonzola cheese were definitely a stand-out with their roasty, toasty goodness and salty bite of the gorgonzola, making a match made in heaven. 5/5.

On the cocktail front, the Amaretto sour was almost as is should be, sour and fruity. However, the cherry/almond flavour outweighed the sour taste that a good cocktail sour should embody. All in all, this cocktail gets 3/5

The Gallery is a cool and collected space which oozes sass and style, providing punters with a delicious menu, tasty drinks list and an awesome place to hang. With the summer months ahead, this place is sure to be going off - so go, get off the computer, and head down to The Gallery for your fix of Adelaide's off the beat rooftop bar.

Not overly pricey, and there are options for every sized budget, but since you will be wanting more than one plate and one drink, make sure you've got a little bitta cash to spend.
